The Equipment For Photography

Equipment Needed for Photography

Photography is the art of recording images onto film or electronic sensors (digital media). It is also a fun hobby that can sometimes lead to a promising career. Contrary to popular belief, it's not necessary to spend many thousands of dollars to get started in photography. Although it may seem daunting to wade through the plethora of equipment options for photography, all it takes to get started is a small investment in basic equipment.

Film Photography

Film photography may require more equipment than digital photography such as extra lenses, darkroom equipment and rolls of film.

Digital Cameras

Digital photography requires a minimum of one digital camera. A simple point and shoot camera can work, but most people prefer a digital SLR camera for variety and flexibility.

Lenses

To achieve good photos, extra lenses can help. A wide aperture lens is good for event photography, a zoom lens improves wildlife photography and a macro lens is necessary for close-up shots.

Filters

In some cases, filters that correspond to lenses are necessary. These filters include polarizing filters, tungsten filters and UV filters.

Computers

One of the most important pieces of equipment for digital photography is a fast computer with a lot of memory, which can be used as a digital darkroom.

Other Equipment

Other things to consider for digital photography are a good color printer and photo editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.
