Create a festive atmosphere for your masquerade New Year's Party.
It is always fun and exciting to anticipate the coming of the New Year. If you are planning a New Year's Eve Party, consider a masquerade theme. Encourage guests to wear masks and dress as their favorite historical or literary character.
Instructions
1. Gather items that have a masquerade theme. Party warehouses are a great source for colorful masks, beads and feathers. Hang the masks over drapery rods, and use the beads as tie backs for curtains. Choose whimsical and Venetian-style masks; save the scary masks for next Halloween.
2. Choose a tablecloth that is brightly colored. You want to greet the New Year with an air of cheeriness, so using colorful satin fabrics is a great way to add that fun-filled atmosphere.
3. Create a centerpiece by filling a tall vase made of colored glass with flowers, glittered Venetian masks and feathers of different sizes.
4. Set the buffet table with colorful runners, and use serving platters that are colorful. Set the table with colorful glassware and plates.
5. Put a Happy New Year's banner above the buffet table or on any prominent wall. Light a few colorful scented candles.
6. Hang colorful beads from your light fixtures.
7. Drape your ceiling and walls with yards of bright red, royal blue, deep purple or deep green fabric. Criss-cross several of them until you have achieved a tent look. Hang a disco or glitter ball in the center. Hang strands of colorful ribbons from the ceiling.
8. Add colorful balloons all around the house. Tie them to banisters and chair, or tie the ribbons to a weight and place groups of balloons in the corners of the room.
9. Hang piñata boxes in a masquerade theme, filled with confetti, from the ceiling. Tie on ribbons to be used as pulls. At the strike of midnight, have several people pull the ribbons to open the boxes and drop the confetti.
