Paint your own canvas for a baby's nursery.
Adding pictures to a wall of nursery not only adds to the overall look of the room, but also helps stimulate your baby's mind with the colors and shapes. Although you could use store-bought framed images from a baby or home supply store, making your own allows you to customize a picture to fit your nursery design. Using small wrapped canvases and acrylic paints, create your own wall art for your nursery, even if you don't consider yourself much of an artist.
Instructions
1. Cover a flat work surface with newspaper or trash bags to protect the surface from paint damage.
2. Paint three 4-by-4-inch canvas panels using acrylic paint. Paint both the top and sides of the canvas. If necessary, apply a second coat of paint to thoroughly cover it. Choose a color for the panels from the baby bedding. Paint three more 4-by-4-inch canvas panels using a second color from the bedding. Repeat the process with three more 4-by-4-inch canvas panels using a third color from the bedding. Let them dry overnight.
3. Dip a 2- to 3-inch stamp into a fourth color acrylic paint. Choose a paint color that compliments the three paint colors on the canvases. Center the stamp on one of the canvases. Press down and pull the stamp directly upwards. Do not rock the stamp or the paint will bleed. Repeat the process with the remaining eight canvases. Let the paint dry overnight.
4. Hang the nine canvases on the wall in a square shape. Place three in the top row, three in the middle row and three in the bottom row. Depending on your own preference, either keep the edges flush against one another or space them 1/2-inch apart.
