Produce A Pa Ingalls Costume

Pa Ingalls is the father of Laura Ingalls on "Little House on the Prairie." His given name is Charles, but Laura calls him pa instead of dad. That was the custom of her place and time! Charles is a strong pioneer man, and he was played perfectly by Michael Landon in the classic television series of the 1970's. Here is how you can create the perfect Pa Ingalls costume.

Instructions

1. Watch old episodes of "Little House on the Prairie." All of the episodes are now available on video, and there are endless reruns on television. Find some time to view it. You'll be very inspired by the wardrobe that Pa wears on the show.

2. Start from head to toe. Pa should always wear a work, straw hat. This keeps the sun off of his face while he labors away most of the day. Half Pint always wants to play after work, too. He is in the sun all day so a hat is essential.

3. Put on a really simple work shirt. It should be old-fashioned in style. Plain brown is probably your best bet, but go with what feels right for you.

4. Place straight, plain brown work pants on. Make the sure the shirt is tucked into your pants. Pa is a gentleman, and he always looks his best, even when he is working hard.

5. Put on suspenders. When you work as hard as Pa Ingalls does, you want to keep your pants up! Pa always wore suspenders.

6. Put on some work boots! Pa's feet were always adorned with work boots because he was mostly always working. Whether in the fields of at the saw mill, Pa Ingalls is a hard worker.
