Proper lighting is important for billiard tables.
Playing billiard or pool can be a hobby, a pastime or a profession. When playing either game, it is important that the table is lighted properly. A proper light source for a pool table should not create glares or be obtrusive. Installing your own billiard lights is a cheap alternative to a professional installation, but may require more time and effort. However, once the billiard lights have been hung, your focus can be on your billiard game instead of the poor lighting.
Instructions
1. Cover the billiard table with a plastic cover to avoid debris falling on the table.
2. Place the ladder so you can touch the ceiling above the billiard table. Slide the stud-finder along the ceiling and make marks on the ceiling with a pencil, when a stud is found. Only make marks that are over the table itself, as the mark indicates where a light fixture will be installed. Two is often enough.
3. Drill holes in the ceiling where the marks have been made. When done, install the metal hooks by screwing them into the holes using your hands. Ensure they are tightly installed.
4. Hang the lamps up by attaching their chains or wires to the hooks. The bottom of the lighting sources should be about 42 inches from the table-top surface. Install the lights, so they hang freely off the metal hooks.
5. Secure the lighting cords to the ceiling using some clear tape. Taping them alongside moldings or panels will help hide their presence. Direct the cords toward the nearest electrical outlet. Use extension cords as necessary.
6. Add light bulbs to the light fixtures. Use the watts suggested by the lighting source itself or 100 watt bulbs, if unsure.
7. Turn on the lights.
