Add special effects to your video.
Special effects have been used in motion pictures since the early days of film. From the late 1800's "stop camera" techniques, special props and in camera effects were being utilized to enhance a film's creativity. In our modern times, special effects are added to all types of video messages. They are seen in simple emails and home movies to broadcast television shows and blockbuster movies. Adding special effects to your own videos can done in a short amount of time and with little effort.
Instructions
1. Open the video editing software. Access the video editing software program. You can find it by clicking the start menu, then click "all programs." Scroll through the list of programs on your computer and click on the video editing software program you that will be using to add your effects.
2. Import a video clip (or clips) into the timeline of the video editing software. Click on "file," then click on "import video." Click on the video file you want. Click "import." Drag the video clip into the editing program timeline. Some programs have an icon of the video clip and others will just show the name.
3. Add the effect to your video clip. Click on "video effects". A list of different video effect icons will appear as thumbnails and or names. Click and drag the effect icon (or name) you want to the video clip in the timeline. The effect will automatically be added to the video.
4. Review the effect. Click "play" on the timeline monitor and watch the effect you have added to your video. If it is not what you wanted it to look like, delete the effect. This is usually done by right clicking on the timeline clip and clicking "delete effect." You can also click "undo" until the computer backtracks the steps to before the effect was added.
5. Save the added effect. When you have finished adding the effect to your video click "file," then click "save movie." Click on the file location where you want to save your finished movie. The finished video with your added effect will be saved to your computer.
